About Us
We (Ray and Jessie Haanen) farm our alpacas on the edge of the world renown Fiordland National Park, one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
We fell into alpacas like a lot of people starting with 4 wethered males as a nice to have and within 6 weeks we were hooked and have not stopped growing our herd ever since. We both work full time on the farm along with running a small accommodation cottage, farm tours and a fibre art gallery.
Jessie creates wearable art and works of art from alpaca fibre and this gave us a major insight into the handle of fibre and focused our breeding on producing alpacas with dense crimpy fine fibre and holding those fleece qualities overtime.
We welcome visitors to our farm to stay in our visitor accommodation which is a self contained cottage Kepler Mountain View Cottage or call in and browse through our Wild Wool Gallery where alpaca products made in New Zealand either by Jessie onsite or small New Zealand manufacturers can be purchased.
